Allen seems to have pretty rock solid support in Ward 6. Hard to put him and Nadeau in the same boat. Hell, he seems to have the most support of his constituents in all of DC; nobody even dared to challenge him.
He made sure his most viable challenger got redistricted to Ward 7, so I would not put too much stock into his lack of a challenger. He also wanted to run for mayor but was advised that he would get routed by just about any opponent.

The DC council is being taken over by progressives who are guided by ideological but not realistic goals. They don't understand that their progressive actions are going to make the city unsafe and just not a nice place to live.
