You missed my post where I point out that she is on this website TIME AND AGAIN reminding us that she is a very important heart surgeon. Once or twice, sure -- she gets a pass. But over and over? It's ODD.

I think she’s symbolic. It is a powerful reminder when we vehemently debate this issue how many working women our children depend on. Too many SAHMs are so judgmental about WOHMs but still depend on their female doctors, dentists, therapists, children’s teachers, nurses, grocery store clerks, farmers, etc.

We do not live in a society where mothers can not participate.


So funny to hear you say this. There's barely a single post on this thread where a SAHM is being judgy. All I'm seeing are working moms being condescending.

I don’t want to depend on my husband- l want to have a career in case things go south at any point. And l can’t stand my children more than 2 consecutive hours 😂

I am going back later this year (waiting for my clearance to come through) because I'm completely bored of staying home with my kids. It was fine the first couple of years but I'm just over it at this point, especially since someone is fighting/crying every 5 min. It just gets old all day every day.

Because I like working. I also love my children and enjoy spending time with them. But I have my own life too and it includes professional and personal accomplishments. Hope your brain doesn't explode from the dichotomy.

I stayed home for several years when my daughter was very little. I'm glad I was able to do it, but I'm just happier working outside the home.

I bet most of the posters agree that everyone should do what works for them. A happy mom is always the best mom.

And don't forget those who are working to provide for their children.

I'm tempted to start a thread about do moms really judge moms based on their work/sah decisions?

FWIW I have always enjoyed being inclusive to the SAHDs. I was always like good for them!!

Because my mom was a “working mom” and I loved how she balanced a career she loved and is great at, with loving and being there for my brother and I. She really has modeled what a mother is for me. And now grandmother!

I went back to work because I was the breadwinner and had over a 100k in student loans. I didn’t want to leave my baby and cried because I missed my baby so much.

I stopped working when my Dh started earning 800k. I had a third kid and now Dh earns $2m.
