It’s no wonder so many on this board have divorces, bad marriages, need counseling, or use anti-depressants. Find a wonderful spouse of the opposite sex, love each other, and make a wonderful life. I’m 26 years into it and wouldn’t trade a day. I would rather live in a 1200 square feet home with her, than a 12,000 square feet home without her. But I never looked at it as a business decision. I didn’t pick a spouse from a nice resume.
It’s a lifetime lifestyle decision, which in the United States cannot be separated from a financial decision. Want good healthcare? Need money. Kids to go to a good school? Money. Kids to graduate without crippling student debt? Money. Retire at 65 or work until you die? That’s money too. The wonderful life of two people who love each other but have to work three jobs each to make ends meet does not sound wonderful to many people AND a woman who complains will be asked why she married such a poor provider.
