Subject: how many of us are secretly conflicted about this ruling?
None. I understand perfectly that the rules of the game in a democracy are that I personally can feel conflicted, but I should legislate my religious beliefs on other people.

This abortion debate is about the control of creation and taking a way women’s say in their own fate and destiny. Men make life and death decisions all the time and no one bats an eye.

An abortion should not be lumped in with condoms, the pill, depo, the ring as mere "birth control." It has 0% effectiveness at preventing pregnancy. Real birth control prevents pregnancy. They put these comparative efficacy charts in pamphlets with the BP pill. Abortion would be zero.

5 states (at least) only had 1 abortion clinic in their entire state before this decision. Were poor women using coat hangers then? Were they going out of state? Were they better with BC? Did the birth rate go up?

Conflicted? No. Because I think the lives of living people—including children— matter. My beautiful daughter who walks and talks and sings and loves to feed the doggie should not be left without a mother because a doctor let her mother die of complications from a miscarriage. Or an ectopic pregnancy. Or uncontrolled preeclampsia. All conditions that women in our family have survived because of legal abortion.

Have you ever had a friend or family member get the heart wrenching news that their unborn child will have severe medical problems, be in pain or not live past a few days if you give birth? Please interact with some of these people and then describe women as ‘taking control of what she refuses to give birth to.’
Not sure what you’re getting emotional about. Frankly, I don’t even know how you interpreted what I said.
I have special needs people in my family and all have told me they would have aborted had they known they’re kids would suffer for the rest of their life. None of them are happy. *shrugs*.

I am against abortion but wouldn’t deny others the right. I look at the SC issue as a legislative issue and I’m fine with it going to state rulings.
When I looked up the numbers, 93% of abortions are in the first 14 weeks. Not much will change for most people. I am perfectly fine teaching DC that birth control is most important and would prefer they use pill AND a condom. I would both rally and vote to maintain first trimester abortion and 100% for abortion pill and contraceptives. Would also vote to push for more support requirements for men/boys.
Still is not first on my list of voting issues.Though watching to make sure it is not a slippery slope. I will say as a mid-50 y.o. women, I never thought I would see this day. i also can’t understand how some state have such restrictive laws.

I have never had an abortion, hope never to be in a position ti even have to consider it, and am 100% pro-choice and feel no conflict whatsoever.
To details - while some abortion may be emergency birth control that represents early abortions generally. Later abortions tend to be truly medical procedures not mere birth control, and are the most heart-wrenching decisions and scenarios you would never wish on anyone. That should be guided by medical professionals, not lawyers, judges, politicians, or me.
