It's interesting to me that Eaton didn't make anyone's list

Before the pandemic, maybe, but their math scores were going down over the last PARCC years.

I work in DCPS and pre-COVID visited many schools regularly. I have never heard anyone say this nor did I feel that way when I visited. Yes, it's a good school but it has never been considered "the best".

I agree. I lived inbounds and didn’t send my kids.

By what measure?

If we're talking about regular neighborhood DCPS schools I'd say:

ES: Mann
Middle: no idea
High: Jackson-Reed - but only because there is no real competition. #1 in DC but wouldn't even be ranked in a Massachusetts or Connecticut for example.

Stoddert. They have Russian and Chinese kids who need more time to learn English. They are pretty good at math.
My kids are at Mann.

Bancroft/Deal/J-R is a great pathway, particularly if you want to get early dual language learning and a bit more of a diverse learning environment.

OA is the only one worth it.

If you look at how OA treats children with special needs and learning disorders, it is probably the worst school in the region.

No thank you.

OP, I'm assuming you're looking to move in bounds for guaranteed enrollment. If I had it to do over again, I would buy in bounds for Murch, somewhere walkable to Murch, Deal, and Wilson/J-R. You could do this with Janney too.

+1. This is roughly our plan. Maybe Adams for middle school to continue Spanish if it seems like a better fit than Deal when the time comes. Maybe Wilson if SWW doesn’t come through.
