What? Of course they have. That’s what two months of summer and multiple breaks throughout the school year are for.

The school year is 180 days long. Most people don’t miss school for vacations. I never had perfect attendance but I also never missed a day of school for vacation. My parents managed to fit vacations into the other 185 days of the year.

Especially in elementary, a kid has no control over this. If they get sick or their parents want to take them on a vacation, that’s not their choice.
In high school, I had a class where prefect attendance would get you extra credit. I was borderline between two letter grades in that class. I had to choose between attending my brother’s college graduation out of state & getting the higher grade. I went to the graduation & took the lower grade. I’m glad, but the whole set up seemed dumb.

I've had bosses who were very proud of the fact they never called out. They were miserable people who needed a break. They made everyone else miserable. Mental health is important.
