Woodlands in Fairfax no longer exists? I’ve been out of the country for a while but I’ll be back in a few weeks and this makes me want to cry.

It's still there! I ate there last week. The one in Langley closed

I see a big difference between winter and summer at District Taco. They seem to use fresh produce etc and everything tastes better. With that said, I still prefer Taco Bambo (but also know that DC taco joints aren’t good enough to export).

There really aren’t Peruvian chicken places elsewhere? I didn’t realize that.

This is a good one! Also, related but different: pupusas. Hard to find a good pupusa outside the dmv.


NYC begs to differ with both of these.


Where in NYC does one get good pupusas? I live there now and have been looking for a place comparable to the ones here.

Totally agree! There is nothing unique about DC food. Most cities have better food than DC. I grew up in Cincy and the food is even better there.

Agree with Teaism, though part of the charm is that it's local

One place I miss that didn't survive is Bread and Brew that was in Dupont. Just simple healthy salads and sandwiches. And longer standing was CF Folks. Miss their lunch specials so much!

Medium Rare is a good one. It's going to sound crazy but where I grew up in Texas there's nothing like Chop't or Sweetgreen (I know they're in NYC, etc, but the parts of the country that could REALLY BENEFIT from a fast-food salad chain don't have them). Other than that, maybe Rehobot?

The best Peruvian restaurant I’ve ever been to was in San Francisco. It wasn’t a chicken chain though, true.
