Subject: Can you ever politely ask your in laws to stop buying the kids clothes?
Acknowledge her generosity and provide focus. My mother was like this. I’d tell her “I know you love to buy gifts for the girls. They’re more than set for summer clothes but I haven’t gotten them bathing suits yet. Maybe a colorful one piece with a towel would be awesome for Larla’s birthday.” Or “Lily is all about unicorns these days and says her favorite color is yellow.” Best thing I ever did was get her buying them books. She loves to shop so it’s just a matter of giving her direction.

Subject: Can you ever politely ask your in laws to stop buying the kids clothes?
Tell them thank you for the clothes and now that you don’t have to buy new clothes you have more money to save up for (insert bigger useful item here). Oh now we can save that money for the little tykes play house we want to get from (insert store). Then maybe they take the hint and buy whatever you need that isn’t clothes or at least a gift card to that store you mentioned.

I would keep one shirt/outfit for each child and donate the rest with all tags on to a good charity. There are lots of little souls who would love a NEW Disney or princess outfit. Seriously it’s a win-win.

My girls truly don’t seem to notice what they’re wearing. They don’t love or hate the clothes. They also have no clue who most of the characters are.
I really love my MIL and don’t want to hurt her. DH says he’ll tell her to just stop but I think that’s too harsh and would hurt her feelings. WWYD?
PS it’s not about Disney or pink. It’s the sameness and sheer amount of clothing.
Tale a few pictures and send it to her then donate it all to Goodwill.

Subject: Can you ever politely ask your in laws to stop buying the kids clothes?
How hard is it to either:
(1) Say "Yeah, grandma lives near Disney World, so the amount of Disney stuff we get as gifts is out of control!"
or
(2) Throw the stuff in the back of the closet and "forget" about it until you need daycare/backup clothes.
