1) Call Brett Allen of the Chamber of Commerce and ask him if on May 11 he wrote that the forum video would be posted. Report back his answer — verbatim — here.

2) Ask any of the council candidates that were in attendance at the forum what he said.

Frumin spoke directly after him. Monash spoke after that. I think Brown too, but I don’t remember that too well.

Everyone who spoke after him called him out for his comments.

It’s clearly a very small group of people trying to orchestrate a rumor campaign against him. I know nothing about Goulet except that he’s been endorsed by the Post and that there are people trying to smear him on hear. I’m sure the two are related.

I’m not going to say that it didn’t happen, but people are going to need more than a DCUM thread and a few comments on Reddit to believe that it did. Even if the video isn’t released, a press release put out by multiple candidates that is picked up by the local media would do the trick. The statement that is being attributed to him is horrible.

It was covered on twitter by people watching the live stream of the forum. You can see the tweets from last week. It was abhorrent and not a "made up" transgression. The man said it. He should be held accountable for his words.

Even if this is the case, the best evidence is an interpretation of what he said by a rando DC DSA member on Twitter? The way I’ve seen white people throw around the word racist lately, I’m going to need more evidence. No way I am going to take this on trust, particularly being so conveniently close to the big endorsement freak out.
