Also, I was in the wrong lane on the drive home from the library, so I had to make a wrong turn. I was able to go a different way, no problem. But he wanted me to go back to the beginning and start the drive over so I could do it right.

We parked at the “end” of the library parking lot instead of the “left.” (It was the end… on the left???)

Because I had to place him in the carseat and he arched his back like an arrow while screaming for what felt like eternity just standing on the carseat pushing down on the armrests. Was super fun.

Today's tearful episode concerned bumblebees. This morning DD(2) burst into tears when I opened the shades of her bedroom window.

DD: Bumblebeeeee! BUMBLEBEEEEE!
Me: oh, was there a bumblebee in your room? (thinking maybe she'd seen a bee flying around and got spooked)
DD: No! BUMBLEBEEEE OUTSIDE! (tearfully points at the window)
Me, noticing the pouring rain: hmm, I don't see a bumblebee outside, it's raining. I don't think bumblebees like to come out in the rain, sweetie.
DD: No rain!! NO RAIN! Wanna see BUMBLEBEEEEE! (wails)

I deduced from all of this that the bumblebee that sometimes flies by her window didn't make an appearance today, due to the rain, and she got peeved. I promised her we'd see the bumblebee when the sun comes back out.

Her scissor cuts - that she had total control over - weren’t long enough.

When we turn it on, he throws a tantrum demanding we turn on Octonauts and the Ring of Fire.

So then we turn it off.

And then he screams and demands we turn on Octonauts and the Ring of Fire.

This happens at least once an hour.

Bahaha thankfully we are past the phase of totally nonsensical tantrums (most of the time) but 5 yo has been watching this movie literally every weekend since it came out last year, even though we offer to let him watch a variety of other movies.

Toddler: Red <unintelligible>
Me: Red what sweetie?
Toddler: <sobs>

Turns out he wanted to wear his red shoes. Which is totally fine. And once I guessed ("red cup? red truck? red shoes?) he calmed right down. But sheesh kid, just say shoes again and we could have avoided this whole thing!
