Good questions. Can schools see what other schools your kid has listed as "considering" or "applying?" I mean, this is just me (helicopter mom) playing around with information, trying to figure out which schools to recommend to my kid--I'm not sure he's even aware that college vine exists. But I don't want anything actually "official" or schools actually seeing what I'm randomly entering- he's only a rising junior so we aren't really sure what his GPA, SAT score, etc. will look like in 1.5 years--but I put in some numbers that I think seem likely....Will schools see if those numbers change (up or down) and judge that?
Ugh. Maybe I should just delete the account.

You should be able to change the privacy settings (and don’t use real names)

They fixed the glitch with the women’s colleges chancing. But now the whole list is depressing. Not looking at T20 but even if I change DD’s stats to 1600 and UW 4.0, it looks hopeless, except at large state flagships.

It also gives advice about going test optional or not. I was surprised, given that it asks for high school and geographic location, does anyone know how accurate that advice is? I had thought our child should go test optional at W&M and UVA, but it advised that submitting score was (narrowly) better based on the profile.

I used my name and birthday (instead of my kid’s) and put in guesstimated scores and gpa.

I haven’t opted into anything that I know of and I haven’t received anything unsolicited. You can opt in to provide your info to colleges.

Interesting. Just did for DC who is already admitted ED for this fall. CollegeVine describes DC's ED as a reach. It was. We think college counselor's LOR, excellent ACT score, and being full pay helped.
