No, just no. Way too sad for the occasion. It's about losing someone to cancer.

+1 for Frank Sinatra such as:

One more for my baby
Fly me to the Moon

Also, Moon River.

Hugs to you, OP. This is a beautiful gift you are giving your father/grandfather and whole family.

I'll be seeing you
In all the old familiar places
That this heart of mine embraces
All day through
In that small cafe
The park across the way
The children's carousel
The chestnut tree
The wishing well
I'll be seeing you
In every lovely summer's day
In everything that's right and gay
I'll always think of you that way
I'll find you in the morning sun
And when the night is new
I'll be looking at the moon
But I'll be seeing you
I'll be seeing you
In every lovely summer's day
In everything that's light and gay
I'll always think of you that way
I'll find you in the morning sun
And when the night is new
I'll be looking at the moon
But I'll be seeing you

Thank you everyone, so many great ideas. I’m going to try playing some of these for my stepdad and see if he says he particularly likes any of them or sings along. My mom might also know which one he’d most enjoy.

No doubt he’s danced to just about all of them in the past. He’s a great dancer and was always one of the first to the dance floor at any wedding reception. My mom just sent me a fantastic photo of him dancing with 9 year old daughter at an outdoor concert last summer. I will so treasure that photo.

Thanks for the kind words from so many of you as well.

“Up Where We Belong”
by Jennifer Warnes, Joe Cocker, and Maxine Green (1982) used in the movie “An Officer and a Gentleman”
Who knows what tomorrow brings
In a world few hearts survive
All I know is the way I feel
When it's real, I keep it alive
The road is long
There are mountains in our way
But we climb a step every day
Love lift us up where we belong
Where the eagles cry
On a mountain high
Love lift us up where we belong
Far from the world below
Up where the clear winds blow
Some hang on to used to be
Live their lives looking behind
All we have is here and now
All our lives, out there to find
The road is long
There are mountains in our way
But we climb a step every day
Love lift us up where we belong
Where the eagles cry
On a mountain high
Love lift us up where we belong
Far from the world we know
Where the clear winds blow
Time goes by
No time to cry
Life's you and I
Alive today
Love lift us up where we belong
Where the eagles cry
On a mountain high
Love lift us up where we belong
Far from the world we know
Where the clear winds blow
Love lift us up where we belong
Where the eagles cry
On a mountain high
Love lift us up where we belong

“Time in a Bottle” by Jim Croce (1973)
If I could save time in a bottle
The first thing that I'd like to do
Is to save every day 'til eternity passes away
Just to spend them with you
If I could make days last forever
If words could make wishes come true
I'd save every day like a treasure, and then
Again, I would spend them with you
But there never seems to be enough time
To do the things you want to do once you find them
I've looked around enough to know
That you're the one I want to go through time with
If I had a box just for wishes
And dreams that had never come true
The box would be empty
Except for the memory of how they were answered by you
But there never seems to be enough time
To do the things you want to do once you find them
I've looked around enough to know
That you're the one I want to go through time with

I’m so sorry, OP. This would be my pick:
“If” by Bread (1971)
If a picture paints a thousand words,
Then why can't I paint you?
The words will never show the you I've come to know.
If a face could launch a thousand ships,
Then where am I to go?
There's no one home but you,
You're all that's left me too.
And when my love for life is running dry,
You come and pour yourself on me.
If a man could be two places at one time,
I'd be with you.
Tomorrow and today, beside you all the way.
If the world should stop revolving spinning slowly down to die,
I'd spend the end with you.
And when the world was through,
Then one by one the stars would all go out,
Then you and I would simply fly away

I’m very sorry about your beloved step dad. My dad, who died last year at 79, loved San Cooke’’s sings. “You send me” is a nice one, perhaps, and also reasonably short.

In the Elvis vein… which goes with the age demographic… “Love Me Tender.” A sweet, darling song. Also under 3 minutes.

Best of luck OP. Sending you lots of warm thoughts.
