My daughter is a year old and she has three friends named Luca. It’s definitely on the rise if that matters to you. The movie will influence it in the next few years too.

I don't think they're interchangeable at all! They're both great names. With an Italian last name, I'd name him Luca, but I'd also call him Luca. I know a few boys with this name and NONE of them go by Luc.

I also know many, many Lukes.

I have a Luke and we get a lot of Star Wars jokes. But that's okay.

The song "Come on Eileen" came out a year after my sister Eileen was born (so my parents couldn'thave predicted it). You just can't predict what media will end up haunting your kid.

I like Luca. I am biased and we chose this one because we are Eastern European. Luke is nice too but wanted to have that trace to our heritage.

Luke Piccata is fine.

Lyric? Cherokee? Billy Bob? Yoda?

I know someone who recently gave their child the middle name, Jedi. I wish that weren’t true.

Whatever. I think middle names are a free spot on bingo.

OP, give him the name you like the best.

+1. If anyone gets the pronunciation of Luc wrong you correct them once and they get it.
