I’m always in the market for one of those — added to my wishlist!

Me too - I added it to my Libby holds list - thanks PP!

How funny, I’m reading that, too! I’m coming to the end of the second part. I’ve owned it as a large, single volume for years, but just started it this spring.

I like the characters but it is waaaaaay too long.

Yes it's way too long. Plus I forgot everything in the prior book so I have to keep googling who everyone is- and I don't want to reread that one either as it's over 1000 pages too.

On a happier note, The 7 1/2 deaths of Evelyn Hardcourt is great. It's an Agatha Christie locked room mystery mixed with Groundhog's Day.

PP- it's 7 and 1/2 deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle...

That author's mystery books featuring Hawthorne are really fun reads too.

I just read the summary of Station Eleven - some of you guys might like "The Brief History of the Dead" by Kevin Brockmeier.

Currently reading Ann Patchett’s “These Precious Days.” It’s a collection of short stories. I’m generally not a huge fan of short stories but I will read anything she writes.

I just revisited King Coal and The Jungle by Upton Sinclair. So much food for thought.

OP here, I looooove The Aeneid. Hope you are enjoying it as well!

Me too. I hated that we read, and spent so much time on, The Odyssey in high school. The Aeneid is so much more interesting!

Is the first ever by the guy who wrote On Earth We’re Briefly Gorgeous? That was a tough book. I am glad I read it, but I can’t say I enjoyed my time with it. How is this one?

The Magician by Colm Toibin. I am bemused by it. I find the writing so strange, and yet oddly compelling. Not sure I’d recommend it.
I am about to go on a trip and have a bunch of fun British mysteries on my iPad for fun, take my mind off a long flight kind of reads. Looking forward to them!
