This bus stop is at the intersection of a small street and a larger street that has speed cameras and other traffic controlling features. Not sure how this can be MCPS’s fault.

I'm sure the BOE hater will find some way to blame them.

My DC and I were hit by a car crossing the road to a bus stop. Thankfully, we are fine. My heart goes out to the family. So tragic.

A childhood friend of mine lost their child a few years ago from an unexpected medical condition. The child was 11.

I don't know if it's just because I'm getting older, but I seem to know more and more people who've lost their children. Makes me want to keep my kids in a bubble.

Drivers over the age of 65 should be checked every year for cognitive and physical problems that prevent them from safely operating a vehicle. FULL STOP.

Are there any politicians out there with enough of a spine to stand up for children over the voting elderly??? Disgusted.

I drive that road twice a day. So sad. When I was seven, my classmate got hit by a car and died. Since I was a kid, I did not think about it much at that time. Now my kid is around the same age, I think about it a lot. A big loss. So sad.

I'm not sure MCPS safety experts could have predicted such a risk.

Can we get old people off the road now?

This isn’t an MCPS issue. At a certain age, drivers need to be tested. Look what happened on Connecticut Ave a month ago.

Prayers to this family, so devastating.

It’s posted on literally every single media site. Facebook page. Twitter.

All the more reason why I agree it should not be.

You are paid to shut up parents. This is a dangerous bus stop and an avoidable injury to a family. Mcps has been told to clean up these bus stops and refused. Now we know Todd Watkins couldn’t be bothered with safety. He was too busy skimming off $600,000.

Paid to shut up parents? What does that mean? I just know that this tragedy should not be a topic on here with busy bodies. I would not want that and neither would you. It’s out there, doesn’t need to be here. And don’t tell me it’s done respectfully, this is intrusive which is not respectful.

And every time you comment with this odd request, you bump up the thread which gets more views and more comments.

You seem happy to have this on here to gossip about.

Yes, I am thrilled about it.

Agree, nothing wrong to wonder how boy is doing. Wrong to post it on here as a grab for information.

This is very much an mcps issue
Where are the student Patrols that are supposed to be at every bus stop? I've seen kids all over the place walking to and from school this year.

What?? A student patrol could protect another student from a car jumping the curb? The student was there with an adult who couldn’t prevent this.
