Subject: When out-of-town family makes no effort to see you
It may not be about you as a person.
Maybe you have a bunch of kids and she is child free and doesn’t really enjoy all the kid noise etc
Maybe you are way more cautious than her re: covid and she doesn’t feel comfortable following the precautions you expect
Don’t go to the gathering just for her sake, go if you want to go but if you don’t - don’t
And of course no passive aggressive remarks to her like “I have misjudged our closeness”, this is the worst!

OP another person here who always felt pressure to visit so many people when I came home. And I know I often upset some because I don’t always make the rounds equally.
Hopefully if you go to this event you connect with her and perhaps others. If you are going to feel bad if you only get a few minutes in passing with her, then forgo the event and talk her you look forward to chatting with her another time.
