Zelensky is grandstanding to garner popular opinion. He's become a social media star. He is milking it for all it's worth.
If he was as smart as he presents himself to be, which he is not, he would concede the small part of Ukraine to Russia that Putin wants, namely Donetsk and Luhansk, settle for the greater remainder, and put in writing Ukraine that remains militarily neutral. Everyone goes home happy, or at least, merely name-calling.
The longer Zelensky grandstands and postpones, the worse it becomes. He is expendable.

This is incorrect. It puts Putin and his nukes at the border of multiple NATO countries. And it gives him control of a country with vast natural resources and control of the Black Sea.
+1. The top Pp appears to be ignorant if the geography of Europe and Russia, and Putin’s long history of making external war to cement his internal grip on power. Ukraine will continue a long term insurgency even if Putin physically takes control of Ukraine and flattens cities. He will be humiliated as Lukashenko was in Belarus by the resistance of the opposition. And that will make Russia very unstable, because they will see partisans resisting autocratic control in Ukraine and Belarus and that resistance will spread into Russia. The only way Putin has to this instability is to continue to make war externally to justify tightening repression.
Putin has said in a number of speeches that Poland and other former Warsaw Pact countries should be returned to Russia. Not only is he saying this but also his strategists and diplomats describe this. Only yesterday the Russian Ambassador threatened Bosnia with the same as Ukraine should Bosnia join NATO.

No one has said nor suggested that, but the dream of a NFZ and serious escalation not by Putin is just a dream.
