I'm so amused by Gatorade being presented as a "fancy" drink. When I was a kid I associated it strongly with being sick or like sports.

Why is ginger ale preferable to Sprite?

Not nearly as sweet (if you buy the right brand — which is *not* Canada Dry) and, for some reason, it's been unfamiliar to, yet popular with, DC’s friends. So “something different,” I guess. Also if there’s some left over, it will get consumed in our household. YMMV. (Oh and if they want a lemon and/or lime flavored beverage, there are the -ades, so ginger ale is non-duplicative).

Forgot apple cider as our other juice beverage. More seasonal that the others, but also a big hit.

Do a carbonated and non-carbonated option.

I'd probably get some Vitamin Water, Lemonade, and a type of soda. Probably some single old fashioned bottles of root beer
