New poster. This confirms it, from the horse’s mouth that 100% on IAAT was an exaggeration. My child took IAAT few years ago and I recall that the highest score was 99 percentile. Also I find it interesting that there’s so many AOPS boosters on this thread.

It is possible to get 100% on the test, and to get confirmation of it, from the school. So the people saying it's possible is correct (although they weren't in this particular instance). As for AoPS, it's a good program. We have done Beast Academy sort of loosely at home. The type of thinking involved, is orders of magnitude beyond what would be required in school, and a good fit for kids that are already good at math and want to be challenged.

It’s only possible if you actually request the full score from the school. If your kids has a high percentile score, you’re an idiot if you ask to see this.

I don't disagree, but have you seen how some of the DCUM parents act? Undoubtedly someone with high percentile scores will have parents requesting the details.

I assume OP did b/c she said she didn't want to post the exact score in case the admin or teacher was on this website. I'm surmising she asked to see the score.

Paranoid, no? How many kids are there in 6th grade AAP that fit the description of 'Loves math and scored in the X percentile on the IAAT'?

PercenTILE is 1-99, unlike percentage. It means how your did relative to OTHER test takers. You can’t beat 100% since you are part of it.

AoPS is more about creative problem solving, learning to play with math, and the like. My son enjoyed it.

RSM is straight up math, taught in smaller groups but more along the lines of math as it is taught in Europe. If your daughter wants to learn math and not interested in more competition style math and teaching, then a class like that might be more interesting. I don't know if AoPS Geometry classes are in line with the math class my kid took in 3rd, more creative uses of math and less school like, because we don't have any experience with more subject specific courses through AoPS and RSM.
