I travel twice each winter on “girls trips”—- sometimes internationally. Once with my SIL (a longer trip). Once with my BFF x25 years (long weekend). In the last couple of years, I’ve started also doing an end of the school year trip with college aged DD (long weekend). We share rooms, with 2 queen beds. But, these are probably the only 3 people on the planet besides DH I’d share a room with and consider it a vacation. We’re all very compatible travelers (and sometimes the SIL trip and DD trip get combined)— introverts who can read at night in the same room and nobody feels the need to talk or gets offended. We can chat. Or not. People I feel very comfortable with.

Now, an extrovert, chatter, someone I don’t know as well (and this includes travel my mother, you can decide which category or caregotoes she fits in ), I need my own room.

The test is: is this someone I feel comfortable being quiet with?

Hard to imagine traveling with a large group of women. That’s introvert h*ll.

I wonder if it is financial. My husband makes a very high income as do most of his friends. My friends are a mix of working women and stay at home moms. HHI varies from friend to friend.

Guy here. This sounds gross. Probably why I've never vacationed with guy friends. It's either with family or solo for me.

You think eating, drinking, talking, and sleeping are gross? Do you have a corporeal entity, or do you just float around the world in a vaporous miasma?

I have terrible insomnia and need for quiet to wind down so I can sleep so sharing a room is not for me. I'd rather not go on a trip than face that scenario. Agree that Airbnbs are a good solution to everyone being together but having their own space. ANd even that, I can only tolerate for a weekend.

I'm a 40yo woman and I always get my own room. I love girls trips, but I am past the point where "getting ready together" is a thing, and I like having my own space to unwind. I'm also a super-early riser and don't want to tiptoe around in the AM.

The last time I shared a room with non family members was on a group trip to NYC. We were all single, late 20s/early 30s. Due to NYC hotel prices, we got only two rooms: one for the women and one for the men. In the women's room, we shared the queen beds between the 4 of us. The men would not share a bed to save their lives. So they ended up one on each bed, and two slept on the floor.

Women are neater and have better hygiene than men so sharing a room with a woman is less objectionable m

I’m a woman who hates sharing rooms. I’m a very light sleeper and never get enough sleep in a shared room. Getting good sleep and a bedroom/bathroom all to myself is one of the things I like best about going on a “girls’ weekend” bc at home I have a husband who snores and 2 young kids, one of whom still wakes in the night.

I will share with one other woman but not more than that. My preference is to have my own room.

I always share a room with a buddy on a ski trip. Pretty common, as hotels and chalets are expensive in ski areas. Have shared rooms with both gay and straight male friends.

Though we always have separate beds.

I don't like sharing rooms. I have a friend who working overtime to get me to share a room in January, no thanks. Now a house rental with multiple rooms, that works for me. But a small hotel room, no.

Been on many girls' trips where we've shared rooms, sometimes even beds. But I'm from "flyover country" and we all grew up real middle class. Despite most of us being UMC now, I guess we still hold those types of values when it comes to spending $ on a girls trip.

I have no issue sharing a room but I would only share a bed with my sister/close friends.
