My biggest regret is not starting to homeschool our children much sooner. I used to think it was kind of a fringe movement. But now I cringe when I think of all the private school tuition we spent for what we now realize is an inferior model of education—at least for our particular kids. I will concede that homeschooling is probably not for everyone.

We are getting much better outcomes now and our family has grown much closer. We love the freedom and the ability to go much deeper into topics that our kids are curious and/or passionate about.

I would be worried that my kid was not prepared for college or a career. I can count on one hand the number of homeschoolers I’ve met who were smart enough and organized enough to be able to handle HS level curriculum for their kids.

Actually for that, my son made a support group for teens who want to become more social or struggle with loneliness. They can meet people, talk and discuss different topics. He started it because he dealt with social issues when he was younger. The website is breakthebarrierft.org

Same. I may be slightly biased because we homeschool in DC, but the homeschool kids we meet are very friendly and accepting. Very much used to interacting with people of all ages in new situations.
