So because this thread doesn’t match up with your experiences it’s not real life.

Been a McKinley/Cardinal family for years and sorry you don’t like it but most of this thread has valid points to consider.

Everyone should understand this forum overrepresents extreme viewpoints.

This. My family is very happy at Cardinal. Wasn’t going to post until I saw this comment after reading through the thread.

Such an odd comment denigrating other parents.

If you are actually a parent and you are having a good experience with special education at Cardinal, you're the exception. Give it some time and you too may encounter problems, as so many others have.

Perhaps your kid is getting screwed and you don't even know it. Your unawareness of the long-standing and very well known problems with special education at this school tells me you're pretty out of touch.

This. Give it time. I’m guessing your kid is young. Just wait.

If you have a child that might require you to consult with admin, avoid Cardinal.

If you do not do well with people who waste your time with word salad, avoid Cardinal.

I too moved from a mega school to a smaller one and the differences were amazing.

Many families have filed complaints against cardinal and some have sewed. Many others have transferred out. So choosing to go there is an interesting choice in my experience.

THIS!!! I'd say avoid Cardinal if you are the sort of parent who will advocate for your kid or prepare yourself for the wrath of CB. I am non-confrontational, soft-spoken but even I managed to set off sparks with CB, for something fairly innocuous. His hostility towards me was so unprofessional but I didn't dare escalate and further impact our kids in the school.

I had a similar experience with the Assistant Principal and personally know several people who have had the same experience with CB. The conversations are kind of shocking in the moment, which is what I think they are counting on. You're left feeling flustered and on your heels. It sucks.

So you're saying it's the (many) parents fault that their special needs children had bad experiences with this admin. Nice.

For parents still thinking about these optional transfers offered to certain planning units, School Board voted last night and no comprehensive elementary boundary process in Fall 2022. As a family that was offered one of these optional transfers (or to get in the lottery at least), this affects our thinking so thought others might be interested in the outcome.

Good luck to all!

I’m happy for you and also don’t discount the experience of other families.
