Neither would I.
Really? I would totally do that. What are you worried would happen?
You do realize that hotel master keys can override deadlocks? That’s my issue - just a general lack of security.
What exactly do you think is going to happen in this unlikely scenario?
An employee of the hotel with the master key will come and do what???
Kidnap their entirely average children I guess and set them to making buttons or something.
And these employees would somehow magically know the exact 3 hours the parents would be gone to come kidnap the kids.

We have a trip planned for April. I’m wondering if we can leave kids alone in hotel room while Dh and I go to a show. Kids would be alone for 3 hours. We would be 2 miles away.
What city? Personally I wouldn't do it. What if someone comes to the door and tricks them? Just hire someone for piece of mind.

Odds are they will be in the exact same spots you left them as when you return. There’s no childnappers just waiting for kids to be left alone in a hotel room. Tel them to lock the door from the inside and don’t answer for anyone. If there’s a fire then go down the stairs. There’s not gonna be a fire. Go have fun. Let them grow a little. Make sure they know not to touch the sprinklers.

We started with drinks at the hotel bar while the kids were upstairs in hotel room. We still haven’t worked our way up to 3 hours, it would make me uncomfortable. A hotel room is so small and when things start to go astray that could be hard for your 13 year old and that’s not even considering if an emergency occurred.
No tickets. No part of this trip is booked. I just mentioned the show to DH and he thinks the whole family should go.
He said no way to leaving kids in the hotel.
