We'll do without." is a pretty rude response after someone just told you they didn't get a note because their kid missed 2 weeks of school due to COVID. The correct response is "Oh, I'm so sorry to hear she's been sick. I didn't know. Hope everyone is well now!"
Personally, OP, I would have added that my DC had been hospitalized and NOT offered to run and get the stuff. Because, perspective.
My thoughts exactly. Any reasonable human would say “oh goodness! Didn’t realize. Hope you all are feeling better. Ignore my text and excited to have Layla back!” Agree that hand-written notes to assign duties are a recipe for failure. OP, do something nice for yourself and ignore the room mom. She’s disorganized and rude.

Those things are done at the end of the day so you could've still had time to run home and bring in napkins.
Also, a lot of tone is lost in text messaging. I didn't really perceive the room mom's reply as rude, just to the point- she was probably in the midst of juggling things and organizing stuff that she probably didn't have too much more time to write much of a reply.
And she probably thought you were the rude room bc of your napkin obligation.

I feel like women used to get tasked with all sorts of stupid stuff like this (notice she didn't text your husband). It needs to stop and they need to stop expecting women to be classroom volunteers too. Not everything needs to be a pinterest moment.
+1
3 year olds don’t need this crap and I do not have time for it.

Anonymous wrote:wait, HR mom communicates by paper note via kid's backpack or cubby? How truly bizarre. She'll learn. OP, this is a total nothing burger. Absolutely forget about it.
