Thought I was ambivalent but actually wanted a Dd first- got a Ds who is just wonderful. Wanted a Dd for #2 and got it. The clothes and bows are fun, but it is fun to have both!

I want a second girl because I grew up with only brothers and want my first daughter to have the chance to be close to a sister. I love my brother but men just don’t relate emotionally the same as women.

Yes, a repeat of my first. Didn't happen and I love that it didn't.

I have older brothers and they are so loving and protective, so I wanted my firstborn to be a son too. I loved the idea of DC1 being a protective older brother to his siblings. My DH and ILs wanted a girl because there were no girls in their family in our generation. My MIL was ecstatic with a granddaughter and DH was thrilled because he believes that daughters love their dads forever.

For the second kid, we found out it was a boy. I was very happy because it was one of each. DH wanted a girl but then became happy with the idea of having another baby.

I have to say that it is wonderful to have a DD for the firstborn. Mainly because they help to regulate the environment of the household. Everyone becomes more pleasant because a DD will not allow others to get away with hard behavior. It is fantastic. My DD tamed my FIL who was used to being the strict disciplinarian father of two boys. Also, love it when she calls out my DH for generally clueless male behavior that I sometimes tolerate.

DD is very protective of her younger brother and dotes on him. They are best friends. She is quite bossy to him but will not let anyone else boss him around. I think maybe it is normal for older siblings to be protective of their younger siblings, regardless of the gender.

DH wanted a girl for DC1...and we had a girl. He was a doting dad even before my DD was born, and he is basically a softie.

When I was pregnant with DC2, DH panicked. He wanted a girl again and when we found out that we were going to have a boy, he wondered if he could love another baby as much as DD and if he could love a boy. He was heads over heel in love with my DS as soon as he was born.

I posted above — I wanted girls because I’m super close with my sisters, don’t have brothers, and don’t have a male partner. My second’s a boy and I adore him now. You’ll figure it out, PP! I hope all our brother-sister duos have the same good relationships we do with our respective sisters.

Preference for a boy first, strong preference for a boy with my second, kind of wanted a girl with my third but got a boy, if we have a fourth I hope it’s a boy.

I wanted a boy first (got it) and a girl second (got it) two years apart (got it).

No clue why I saw that as my ideal family but did.

My first is a boy, and I had preference for second one but I kept my mouth around people. Because I knew that we are done with 2 kids, so I wanted a second one girl. If we plan to have 3 kids, I prefer second one is boy and third one girl. It would be nice that 2 boys play together and share things growing up.

No but I do find the women who want girls to be weird sometimes. I’ve know several who talked about having a girl to dress up and put bows on as if their child was a doll. Your kid is not an accessory.

Not OP but we don’t feed it not that BS and I’m sure many other families don’t either. If my child ever does experience this, we will get them help from a qualified specialist who has experience with mental illness.

I preferred a boy first, because DH really wanted a boy, and because I always thought it would have been nice to have an older brother. Got a boy. For the 2nd, I wanted a girl, and got a boy, which turned out to be wonderful of course. For the 3rd, I was really hoping for a girl, to get to experience one, and got another boy, which of course was also wonderful and also made the older ones and DH so excited. When we decided to go for a 4th, I wanted a boy since that was all I knew.
