Her voice is not great. She's not a dancer (and actually moves in some pretty awkward ways on stage). She's not a songwriter.

I thought she was a one-hit wonder this time last year and has faded out since then? Regardless, my favorite part about her popularity was the 30-somethings jumping around, claiming that they’ve “loved her music forever.”Tell me you’re desperate to be relevant without explicitly telling me!

Beyonce -- her music is fun, but I don't get the "Queen Bey" levels of worship for it

DP. I beg you both to watch this "Saturday Night Live" video, "The Beygency." It is hilarious. It's what happens to any of us who DARE to diss the Queen Bey. I guarantee that as fellow "I don't get the worship" people like me, you will get this....If you're reluctant to click a link here, search YouTube for it.

I loathe to say this….because I really don’t like Kanye West as a person and he appears to be a straight up a$$hole in ever sense of the word, but creativity he really is a genius. Have you listened to his non radio play music? Right now I’m listening to The College Drop out of constant repeat. Spaceship is fire.

I pray that you are being facetious.

I can't stand her music. It's so whiny and he voice is like nails on a chalkboard.
I feel similarly. But I'm in my 40s.
Her gift is expressing the super intense emotions of girls in their teens (and early 20s?) in an authentic and relatable way. Similar to Taylor Swift.
12-22 year olds are a HUGE target audience for pop music. And their life experience is driven in so many ways by intense (and confusing) emotions. Olivia Rodrigo and Taylor Swift are truly gifted at tapping into that - crafting stories and phrases that resonate with many.
Reminds me in some ways of the Cure, Depeche Mode, and similar bands back in my day. And EMO rock in the 80s. It's less about the musicality than the feelings. The insecure, brooding, mercurial, itensity of teens and young adults.
