Agreed. It's much less cringe to write them a personalized ballad. I usually record it on my iphone and send it over because I'm an amazing vocalist. At some point I'll upgrade and get a professional microphone etc but in the meantime I'd say it's a pretty successful strategy.

Bumble is not about the woman taking the lead to initiate everything; only the opener. It’s all about women not being slammed online with unwanted attention from men, which is why men can’t contact a woman unless she messages first. Bumble is about women having the choice of who they want to open a conversation with.

If you’re a man on bumble losing matches because you’re waiting for women to court you and ask you out, you’re left in the dust by men who know how to approach a woman and date.

You’re confused.
Bumble is not about the woman taking the lead to initiate everything; only the opener. It’s all about women not being slammed online with unwanted attention from men, which is why men can’t contact a woman unless she messages first. Bumble is about women having the choice of who they want to open a conversation with.

Well your logic is flawed, at least on Bumble. Women have to comment first, and only when a guy has matched with you. So presumably, he already thinks you're hot based on your profile alone, before any conversation happens.


You know guys just spam right swipes. The first comment can be just a "hey" and nothing else. Then women expect men to put on their clown costumes and entertain/win over the woman. This is fine in the olden model of women waiting a la Goldilocks while suitors parade but in today's world of sexual parity, it does not work. Women who are serious about dating must put in equal, if not more, effort. Especially if they are competing for higher quality man or trying to date up. Most guys, including average guys, will be ignored.

It’s not so easy being a guy on Tinder. I never have trouble keeping the conversation going. I usually write the woman a romantic poem. We often make a date. But more often than not the woman doesn’t show up. This gets very embarrassing at my favorite restaurants.

I've never done OLD so take my advice with a grain of salt, but my understanding is that things should quickly progress to an in-person date. If not then the guy isn't that into you and you should drop it.
