Where do you see there are spectators allowed? I just looked at the meet info
Credentials: Parents not working the meet as a deck official or volunteer timer/runner are not permitted on deck. Only athletes, USA Swimming certified coaches, and deck officials will be permitted on the deck. Coaches and Officials should have proof of active USA Swimming membership with them at all times.
This is a PVS guideline. I have yet to see or hear of a single meet allowing spectators.
I had heard that RMSC meets were allowing 1 spectator per athlete, but I don’t know of any other club allowing spectators.

Yes, that's why we pulled our from swim for a few weeks while things surge. But, its 50 kids per group vs. 200-300+ per meet plus families.
But what is the difference between this and college meets? Everyone’s eligible to be vaccinated. At this point they shouldn’t be treating club meets different from college meets.

And there are other sports where they play unmasked…basketball for example.
And swimmers wait until it is their turn to remove masks. So they are not really unmasked at all during the meet, hence why the need for all the distancing.

Because they aren't always masking while waiting their turn and these kids are in school, traveling and multiple activities so its a hotbed for covid.

But why do the swimmers need to be disrespected fed? They are required to be masked when not in the water: there is no distancing in schools or anywhere else for that matter.

Ehh, not the same. Swim meets have a bunch more athletes as compared to basketball games, with a lot less square footage on the pool deck. My guess is they’ll need the stands to spread out swimmers.

My child is a college swimmer in a warm weather state and they do not allow spectators at meets even though they swim outside. So it's not an NCAA thing, it's a covid-denying governor thing.

I’m not sure what GMU’s mask policy has to do with the fact that spectators were packed in the stands for a college invitational, but I was there back in December when I saw the packed stands. Yes people were masked, but packed in like sardines and yelling. Northam was still governor then.
Maybe they were charging spectators to watch that invitational meet. That could explain the difference in policies. If the university sees a chance to make some money they’ll certainly take it.
