I'm partial to Marion, as it was my mother's name. Also have a female relative Marion named after my mother.

I like Marianne too, and it reminds me of Sense and Sensibility. I also knew a Marianne twenty years ago who was crazy and I had to get a restraining order against her, so I prefer the other association.

I prefer Marian. More elegant/professional?

But if you’re honoring a “Mary“ and a “Anne“, perhaps Marianne would be better. Plus, more youthful/fanciful?

I really like both names, though. Congratulations!

I have a Maryam.

I would prefer Marian over Marianne.

It's a boy name in Eastern Europe. The only woman I know with this name is Marian Wright Edelman, founder of the Children’s Defense Fund.

It’s like Fabian and Fabianne. 1st is masculine, 2nd is feminine.

Two of my friends have had Maryam/Miriam babies in the last year. I feel like it might be becoming a thing, and if so Marian will feel lumped in with the trend more than Marianne.

Really like Marian (though prefer Marion spelling). Also like Maren.
