Fair enough. Dems need to choose candidates that can win. Period. That process worked in the presidential race and the nominee that was chosen was chosen almost exclusively because he could get the votes he needed where he needed them. Local races need a similar strategy.

People like you should be ashamed of themselves. Ashamed that little kids in school have to do active shooter drills. This is not normal. My kid went to a school in the US for the first time at the age of 10 (he's American but brought up mainly overseas, as dad is Air Force) and had never had to do this before. I had to explain to my ten-year-old that he could be shot at school. THIS IS NOT NORMAL.

Keep going. Try to shame me into voting D. Ain’t working.

This. Youngkin is going to kill all of the political progress made in Virginia that made businesses want to locate there and people want to live there.

Youngkin is making Virginia look very unlivable and backwards. It's not good for the economy here.

People are leaving. We did. The writing is on the wall. Virginia will soon be Alabama. I lived in Alabama. I do not want that life again. So, we took our money and moved. Thankfully, DH’s job is remote and I can find a job anywhere.

And why do you think abortion has been legalized in so many countries, even former predominantly Catholic countries? Because abortion bans kill women. But you'd rather force women to give birth than give them an option to decide what THEY want to do with their bodies. So much for freedom of choice for women.

+1. If you vote in favor of government forcing women to be incubators for unwanted and non-viable children and the country being awash in guns so that our kids get gunned down in school at stratospherically higher rates than in virtually every other country, then you do support those policies. Your *feelings* about them are irrelevant. You have *acted* in favor of them.

I am done talking. If you want to prevail then you have to LISTEN. It’s communications 101. And not just to your echo chamber.

And you cannot shame people into agreeing with you. Also communications 101.

Extremists on either side control the narrative but we in the middle control who is in charge. Let that sink in. And step off your self-righteous pedestal and acknowledge our power. And what you have to do to earn our support. Ranting does not help.

What makes you think you are "in the middle"? Simply believing that you are? Extremists typically don't regard themselves as such.

Because I exercise a considered choice election. I don’t just bleat in unison with rest of the flock.

Why do you believe it is others' responsibility to listen but not yours? You are not remotely "in the middle" based on your statements here, you are not interested in having a conversation about policy, and you are not open to others' viewpoints - you simply want to view yourself as a victim of whatever issue de jour you've decided represents Democrats wronging you.

I don’t see myself as a victim at all. No idea why you see it that way. I felt wronged and I exercised my vote as a consequence. There are no victims in a functioning democracy. Trump should accept it when the voters have spoken. So should you. Instead of castigating those that voted for Youngkin, focus your energies on getting the independents back in the tent. This thread is proof that you are not there yet. And perhaps never will be.

Far more Americans vote for Democrats than Republicans. This means that Democrats do represent the center. Again, your feelings about this are irrelevant. Facts are facts.

Arrow's Impossibility Theorem would like a word with you.

I don’t care about the relevance of my feelings. My vote is relevant and it was relevant in the last election.

“Facts are facts” - care to cite a source for “ This means that Democrats do represent the center.”?

I’m from Richmond. Don’t blame us. Blame the rural counties and exurbs. And that enough Democrats just didn’t vote.

We're making plans to leave. My sister is seriously interviewing for a job in Amsterdam and my Dad just got his citizenship for an EU country (his Dad was an immigrant).

How exactly does an anonymous poster convince someone not to vote out of spite?

And why exactly should the anonymous poster be expected to do that?
