Same for liberals these days.
Fear of people saying things that while true are unpalatable to their narrative, fear of scary words at the university level, or fear they won’t have a “safe space”, shunning people who think differently, hating successful people, hating police and laws where criminals face actual penalties, hyperbolic sensationalist tales and histrionics over small issues, anxiety, a desire to engineer equality of outcome over equality.

Haha. Try again. It’s because DC is one of the most EDUCATED areas in the country. Folks with college education and above vote for Democrats.
So education means that you vote for policies that harm you?

Our liberalism has gotten:
- Universal Pre-School
- Universal Paid Leave
- New Mom UBI Pilot
- Free Public Transportation for Kids
- Highest LEED Environmental certification in the country
- Extremely high percentage of commerce and mixed used development
- Universal public testing and vaccination for a pandemic
- Highest levels of protections for residents in a pandemic including moratorium laws and vaccine passports
Meanwhile our neighbors just got stripped of a mask mandate. I love DC.

Anonymous wrote:I am curious why DC votes 90 percent for Democrats. Is it that they are government employees and therefore inclined to more government programs? Is it aspirational in that they believe themselves to be “educated” and the Democrats to be the party of the “educated”?
Makes me wonder because it seems obvious that one thing that would really improve DC is to break the stranglehold the Democratic Party has on city government.

They are for: the government forcing women to bear unwanted children, restricting voting access for non-white communities, flooding the country with guns such that our homicide rates far exceed those of other developed countries, permitting private corporations to mistreat their workers and the environment, pretending human contributions to climate change don't exist, etc. I don't feel any particular affinity for the Democrats as a political party, but I will never vote for a Republican for any office at any level.
Do you complain about your taxes with that "high HHI" or happily pay them?
I don't complain about taxes and think taxes should go up on people like me, as long as they also go up on businesses and the super rich.

Yep. I'm the one with a second home here, and I agree. It's amazing to behold. I'm a 90 minute drive to our DC rowhome right now and might as well be in another country. Recently there was a $1 million home liisting here that sold right away, then before you knew it it was back on the market -- the buyers discovered that there was no way to get internet! Yet, the locals consistently vote against anybody supporting any government spending programs that could be life-changing for them.
And, yes, many flatly refuse to get vaccinated.
I'll take DC's liberalism any day of the week.
Why won't west Virginians get vaxxed? Do they think the virus stops at the WV border?
