Yeesh, I have a distant male work contact who sends selfies to me occasionally saying hi.... I think he wants me to send one too but yikes, no.

If this weren't business I'd send him a dick pick and say 'new phone who dis'.... DH is daring me to do so....

I wouldn't send photos of myself for privacy reasons but when DH and I were first dating we sent lots of photos of whatever was going on around us, along with short/funny texts. We have a very similar sense of humor so this was indeed a bonding experience.

Honest question: if you send selfies, why do think other people want to see a picture of you??

I don't know why but that made me laugh out loud. Can somebody answer - it is a good question!

And already answered on this thread! Because it makes people feel closer.

I feel sorry for all these warm, kind, loving picture senders trying to forge relationships and bonds with such prudish, heartless, cold recipients. Talk about narcissistic and self-absorbed! "This picture isn't of me, so why would I want it?"

NP. These senders don’t realize, unless it’s from your child, elderly parent, or paramour, almost NO ONE wants an unsolicited selfie. It’s not personal against the sender.

+1, it's really one-sided "bonding" to bombard someone with pictures they didn't ask for nor want. All to "fish for a compliment," as a pro-selfie PP put it. That's not bonding, that's sad.

Shame on the sender for thinking the recipient was a nice kind person!
