DH and I were immigrants, and our first bed in this country was a queen. We were used to beds that was slightly broader but probably half a foot shorter than a queen. in our home country. Full and Twin looked very small and uncomfortable to us so that was never an option.

We upgraded to a King for our master bedroom only because sometimes DC1 wanted to sleep with us.

Anyhow, long story short - except for the master bedroom, all of our rooms have queen beds because they have more utility, and they are certainly much more comfortable for our kids/guests. We have average sized rooms so there is enough space for dressers, desks, armchairs etc.

I don't find the cost of sheets and bedding that exorbitant for Queen and King beds that we should downgrade to a twin or full? Is this a real thing or posters are just writing any old thing?

I know that in college, my kids will get a Twin XL and have to deal with it, but I am sure they will manage. At home, I want them to have a very comfortable bed and get the best sleep that they can.

And the kids are so comfortable in a big, spacious bed as they grow up.
