Wow, you guys are all very serious on here. We all had the OG virus last year, and thankfully all tested positive at the same time. I cannot imagine isolating from young kids or young kids. We were fortunate to have mild cases. But really, why would you isolate (And HOW would you isolate?) a kid younger than elementary school? Also, if most of you have it and one person doesn't - kinda sucks too, no?

This. Our plan is that one of us will isolate from the kid (to increase the odds that we have at least one adult who doesn't get it and can run errands and the like, and so that we're not both sick at the same time if we do get sick) and the other will take care of the kid. I'm not isolating my child if they are sick.

We did this in September when my 1.5 yo got COVID at daycare. He couldn't mask and we obviously couldn't isolate him. We have a townhouse with a finished basement, so my 4 year old basically lived in the basement with one parent. The sick 1.5 yo lived on the "main" floor with the other parent. Both (vaccinated) parents interacted with each other and both kids, but the kids stayed apart. Eventually both parents got COVID and we ended up masking everyone but the toddler. Lots of air purifiers. At outside for all meals. Every day was basically a juggling act of "who is the least sick/symptomatic one that can take care of the still-negative kid?" The 4 year old never tested positive. The 1.5 yo's illness was very mild, mostly a runny nose. The adults were both pretty ill, though still "mild" in COVID terms. This was all with delta and before boosters were available for the adults. But attempting to keep our family safe was a mess. I don't think I could have forgiven myself though if we hadn't done everything we could to protect my 4 yo and then he got seriously sick.

My 7 year old caught it. We didn't do anything special, just kept him comfortable and went about our business. Nobody else caught it in the house. His case was mild - 12 or so hours of fever/fatigue, back zooming around the next day. Everyone else fully vaxxed + boosted.

Just didn't make sense to try to isolate him in our relatively small home.
