Posters aren’t being rude, PP, they are telling OP the truth. This is not the time to get “fed up” and “throw caution to the wind” with a baby. OP and you both need to take them seriously. You can’t poor-momma when she’s talking about exposing her newborn baby to covid because it’s not what she thought it would be like. Baby has to come first.
Maybe she feels better complaining and getting a little commiseration and instead she's getting finger wagging.

Further, we are in a viral surge right now. If there was a vicious cold going around, the recommendation for a newborn would be to keep them away from people.

Get over yourself pp. When op conceived the baby (presumably last spring) vaccines had been rolled out, most were optimistic and she probably expected, as most people did and public officials kept touting, that we would be in a very different place right now.

For next 2-3 years...certainly.
It's never going away. Humans forget immunity to coronaviruses. This was known with common cold coronaviruses and that is playing out with covid. So even if the highly contagious low virulence strain spreads around the world, everyone will forget immunity and be susceptible to the next strain (at least old people with weak immune systems will, who were the people shutting down society from the beginning anyway). That in combination with mutations, vaccine manufacturers always being two steps behind and vaccine skeptics, means we can expect at least one new strain every flu season. So... live under a rock when you have a newborn or are pregnant, then move on with your life. People average 2 flu infections every 10 years, you can expect something similar with covid.

No one with a brain thought the pandemic would disappear overnight or over the summer I'm guessing was OPs timeline.
Anonymous wrote:How old is baby? If I had a 6 week old, I would take him or her out in some capacities. I have a toddler and am pregnant. We take the kid (and soon to be kids) to museums, restaurants, etc.
