My daughter's elementary school teacher sobbed through an entire parent teacher conference because she was going to have to teach in person before she was fully vaxxed. She was both furious and terrified.

Sorry. I didn't also type Dreambox.

For those students selected for summer school because they were significantly behind, but then were cut because APS couldn't staff the program, the only supports provided were Lexia and Dreambox.

I hate the VLP program, but I think for everything you’re listing, I can tell you something I DID like. The job is huge, and NO ONE is going to be able to do all of it perfectly. I think he’s a smart man, who supports his staff, and cares about kids. Sorry.

My middle school kid has a couple classes that have a great grading policy - it motivates them to keep learning and master the material.

They are graded primarily on quizzes and tests.

If they score better on the test than the previous unit quizzes then the test score replaces the unit quiz scores.

And they also have a chance to do test corrections to make up some lost points. To get the points they have to explain what they did wrong and what the correct answer is. So it promotes more learning.

Anyway, I think this grading policy is great and hope more teachers implement it.

In a school district that is has a large hispanic population, he is just such an awful example. He is deathly afraid of white rich liberals and will do anything to keep them happy. I actually find it really sad to watch him. Maybe he could have and would have made better decisions without the fear. He is also hamstrung by “equity”. If he could be brave and stand up and say this equity crap is just BS to make all you rich white liberals feel better and pander to you and it does nothing to help students who are non white.
