This is pretty wild. I probably wouldn’t say anything but it is completely weird behavior. I am also curious to know how long the visits are and how long they nap. If they are only there for 2-3hrs it seems so strange that a nap would be required at every visit.

I’ve never encountered a healthy adult with a strict nap schedule.

-If this has been going on for years, do you have standing to say something now?
-Do they do this at every house they visit or just some houses?
-Are they long or short naps?
-How do they transition to the naps? Do they announce their intentions to nap or do they say they are just going to rest?
-Does OP ever go nap at their house?
-What did they do when they had little kids that needed supervision?
-Is it a big deal if they nap? Do they at least help clean up meals?

The person who said to meet them for lunch at a restaurant to avoid this whole issue wins this thread.

You said they have been doing this for decades and their children are adults. Does this mean they would bring the whole family over and then after a meal the parents would nap and the kids would be awake? Do you have kids? What do they think of this? Mine would be talking about it constantly.

My SIL and BIL, who we only see a couple times a year, spend all of their time on their phones.

I have adult cousins that do this as family functions. Beyond weird in my opinion.

If the whole visit is only a few hours, how long are they napping? Is this a 20-40 minute refresher or are they taking long naps?

My husband naps practically every day in the afternoon, and is able to fall asleep anywhere. His job is very flexible, and is a cerebral problem-solving type of work, where getting it right is more important than anything else. He sleep well during the night but is a very early riser, so I think the afternoon nap is his way to getting his total hours of sleep.

My daughter takes after him: gets up very early and sometimes naps in the afternoon.

My son and I can never fall asleep during the day. However, we are late risers.

I did say couches. They usually nap there on main floor. Sometimes one goes to basement.

If it bugs you, don’t invite them. Meet them at a restaurant or something.
