There simply are not enough tests or lab capacity to do this right. Two weeks of virtual is small price to pay. I worry about the unboosted kids whose immunity has waned from vaccination more than 6 months ago. I worry about the teachers — a lot. If we lose even one teacher by returning January 4 vs. January 17, it will not have been worth it. I hope Sidwell makes the right decision.
Two more weeks of virtual is a price too large to pay.
If we lose even one of these kids to suicide or overdose because of the mental health crisis the isolation of virtual school creates, it will not have been worth it.

Cases have increased recently and are extremely high: The total reported for the past week was the highest of the pandemic. The number of hospitalized Covid patients has also risen in the Washington, D.C. area. Deaths have remained at about the same level. The test positivity rate in Washington, D.C. is high, suggesting that cases may be undercounted.”

So great they could take time away from attacking project Veritas to report on these statistics. Excuse me while I yawn.

Your husband sounds like an ass. Talk about an empty threat. Where will you go?
He stands up for his family when he needs to, and I wouldn’t have it any other way. If he didn’t stand up for the kids, I wouldn’t respect him.
I’ll take the kids back to TN where I grew up and DH will follow. A sacrifice for him; the private schools in middle Tennessee are great. No sacrifice there.

Don’t let the door hit you. My priority is my children’s safety. If the community numbers are high, people need to stay home.
Seems that the countries who have been most successful at controlling are the ones that have enforced lockdowns. We sadly don’t have the political will here to do true lockdowns, but we can at least close potential spreader nodes.
