Although, on the bright side, I do get what I want!

I am alone with my kids and DH is traveling. I was looking forward to a family gathering with our vaccinated family members. My youngest gets sick last weekend and got tested for strep, flu and COVID (all negative) but still could spread his respiratory thing to the rest so we have to stay home by ourselves.
Then my mom asks about the Christmas cookies which I’m known for making. She asked if she could stop by and pick up the cookies to bring to the gathering. No mention of her bringing any of the food to us in exchange. Nope, just wanted the cookies.

I AM NOW ALLERGIC TO WINE. I have spent 5 nights with 7 people in a 1400 sf house. Steroids and eye drops and 5 days later I still look like I went 5 rounds with Muhammad Ali, my sister is driving me nuts, and my usual family coping strategy is off limits.
Plus, time change man…it’s brutal on kids and adults alike.
Wait, we can develop adult-onset wine allergies????
You win the thread.

They also expect me to wrap the gifts for the kids. My kids are 3 months and 2 years. I can usually get them down at the same time for a nap once a day and that’s when I shower and eat lunch. Really would prefer the retired folks wrap their own gifts for the kids….
Wait, are these people staying with you or going to be there when the kids open the gifts? If so, I’d hand them some wrapping paper, scissors and tape. There’s no way I’d wrap their gifts.
No they visited before Thanksgiving (we were thinking there would be a surge at Thanksgiving and Christmas). I know I’m being petty but I needed a safe space to vent.
NP. How would they know if you didn’t just stick a bow on the gift and hand it to a 2yo? DON’T TAKE THIS ON, and if you do, don’t “vent” to anyone but yourself. You’re being ridiculous.
I’m getting judged for venting on the petty grievances thread?!
Correct. Come with a legit grievance. We’re not into manufactured martyr-complex complaining here on DCUM.
