I hate when people who are obviously not scientists attempt to claim what the science is there for, like vaccine mandates.

Not a chance. Show me the study (not from Pfizer) that shows the necessity of the Covid shot for my 12 year old. And that vaccine mandates will make a difference.

There is no data on whether vaccine mandates stop Covid.

I do not have to proof anything to you because you are not qualified to make an assessment based on the clinical data. How about this? You can refuse every medical procedure that you have not personally done the clinical research and trails on. Let’s start with doctors washing their hand before surgery? I guess according to you doctors should not wear mask? How about sharing needles or using antibiotics?

Actually, I am qualified to make an assessment on clinical data.

And actually, there have been studies to prove the things you have listed - how hand-washing affects outcomes, how antibiotics affect treatment.

That is exactly how science is supposed to work. We make decisions based on data. And there is none yet that would support a vaccine mandate for 12 year olds.

Absolutely. I’m not even far-right. I used to be a full-fledged Democrat. But these kinds of things have turned me away from the Democratic Party and I am definitely more of an Independent voter.

It’s true the vaccinated can spread this among themselves but (a) it’s less likely since vaccines prevent some amount of infection entirely (b) if the vaccinated only pass it to other vaccinated, there will be no healthcare strain because the overwhelming majority of them won’t require any medical care even if they catch it. The mandates are designed to try to minimize the spread to the unvaccinated who are the ones clogging the hospitals and yes, minimize the general spread a bit since they are more likely to have COVID on average (as vaccines prevent some portion of the vaccinated from having it entirely and no such effect is there for the unvaccinated.)

Nonsensical to exclude churches or museums. Churches are full of old people! Museums are full of germy tourists!

They don't. You'll be able to use cards.

maybe when it comes to real vaccines that actually prevent the infection and spread of a virus. but the covid vaccine does neither. Just means you won't get really sick.

If we can all catch and spread it then a vaccine mandate and card does nothing. Looks at the areas with high vaccination rates and how they are still seeing a huge increase in cases right now

That’s great. And it’s good for them to have the choice to do so. It is also good for other gyms to choose NOT to require vaccines.

We can't let what's best for gyms or restaurants drive public health policy.

Public health policy should be dictated by science and the science is not there for vaccine passports. Those who are vaccinated can still catch and spread Covid. If this were not the case them maybe, maybe, i could see a passport program.

but these things do nothing for public health. NYC has vaccine passports and it is still spreading rapidly there.

Gyms have been open since June 2020, through the delta wave and through summer when numbers were down. they are not a source of community spread.

These mandates are for show and not doing anything to stop the spread.

I wish people would realize that all these mandates do is further divide the right and left. They don't make more people get vaccinated. They just make the far right hunker down and believe this is one big control conspiracy even more.
