Holidays last until January 6th. Nothing wrong with receiving a card from Thanksgiving to Jan 6.

Last year due to the post office I received cards into mid February. Postmarked mid December

I am a professor and I do the card after I finish grading finals. We are on the later end. It has nothing to do with the recipient. It is all about my schedule.

I try to get them ordered so they can be addressed, stamped, return addressed and stuffed while I am off between Christmas and New Years. I don't have a problem with when I send them, if you do, 🤷‍♀️

Just enjoy the card when you get it, OP! Why would it be awkward to receive a late one?

We either don’t send cards or send them last minute. Some years we sent Happy New Year’s cards My ILs send us cards for Chinese New Year, in February, so everyone receives cards all throughout the winter, basically and it’s great. My parents send us cards in early December, and I love that extended Holiday season. Do you also take down your tree on the 26th? The 12 days of Christmas last until Epiphany on Jan 6th, remember, and people around the world celebrate with a cake on that day!

It concerns me that you feel this issue deserves shaming… you must have grown up in a very rigid household. Try to enjoy life. You only have one.

I send New Year's cards because I only send to people who sent me cards.

I don’t understand this at all. We receive plenty of cards in late Dec and even, sometimes, a few after Christmas. Why would the ones received on the 10th mean any more than those received later? It’s a thoughtful gesture from friends or family, why make it any more serious than that?

+1 I seriously can’t imagine caring about this, particularly this year and last year when everything has been hell including the USPS.

I'm going to assume the holidays are hard for a lot of people and getting cards out is a nice gesture even if they show up in March.

For me, I just simply procrastinate. It is my ADHD. I always send the cards before Christmas, but because typically arrive right before Christmas or shortly after. This year with our US post office destroyed by Dejoy, my cards will arrive between December 26 and Dec 31 (ETA given to me). They are on route, but that’s when they will arrive

OP, since you have so much time to worry about things that don’t matter, perhaps you could offer to help the. Address their cards next year.

Wait, the OP is a man? A man who cares about late Christmas cards?

I work in online retail as a graphic designer. The holidays are my busiest time of year. I do my best to make sure every gift makes it under the tree on time. It leaves me little time to send my own cards. My friends and family have come to expect New Year's cards from me.

Christmas runs through Epiphany. In most European countries the 12 days after Christmas are considered part of Christmas and New Year's is also bundled into this holiday season. My mother always said it was fine to send cards through Epiphany.
