I doubt there's even a difference between the oranges. It's not like many of the regular old ones you find in the grocery store aren't from Florida too. I imagine they just sell some of them to suckers who convince themselves they taste a difference because they paid 10 times as much.

Look I don't work for the Orange Council or anything but when we have gotten oranges shipped directly from Florida they are noticeably better. And I never buy them- they are gifts so you can't say the markup impressed me.
So I decided to look on Instacart to see where the oranges at my local stores were from. And the origins varied- some were from the US- mostly California. But the others were from Mexico, Brazil and South Africa. Those places are much further so they can't ripen on the tree as long. Maybe just check facts before spouting off.
