Two years of childhood experiences robbed. And some people want to take it into year three. Crazy!
What isn't normal? Everything is back to normal and no restrictions.

At least your kids know what normal is.
Wait, the kid is 2 - they’ve only HAD 2 birthdays. Why is it so extraordinary that those first two birthdays were celebrated only with the parents? Not everyone always does it up for birthdays even pre-pandemic. Not everyone lives in the same town as their extended family.

Many children died during the same time in MoCo from car accidents, drowning, and falling out of windows. Do you also not take them on car rides; avoid swimming and baths; put special locks on all windows?

Sure. You are fine once your kids are vaccinated, but this new variant may evade vaccines to the point exposure to it is as if you ARE unvaccinated. So basically if you didn’t socialize when your kids are unvaxed, this variant resets everything back to an unvaxed state for all of us.
Given the variant was discovered in asymptomatic carriers, that reset isn’t happening…
There were plenty of asymptomatic cases before delta. That’s the whole problem with COVID is it’s unpredictability.
We will have to see if greater transmission in vaccinated results in great hospitalization and death. The markets sure are worried.

But our kids are back to normal. School is normal. Sports are normal. Playdates are normal. It's all normal.
Tell me more. I’m actually looking into moving purely for normalcy. Masks in school? Play dates without hesitation?
Where do you live (I’m guessing MoCo)? I’m in McLean and have 3 kids. Completely back to normal for months with all friends in terms of sleepovers and play dates indoors with no masks. All parents and kids have gotten vaccinated as soon as they could.
Just don't post about how SHOCKED you are that you all got covid and don't know how it happened.
Why would anyone be shocked? I’d just head to Giant to get some Kleenex in the event any of them even noticed.
