Former journalist, and I agree that any solid j-school program is fine, and that getting experience on the school newspaper and through internships will get your kid that first job.

My DD was accepted for 2021. We could not justify the tuition considering the number of schools where she could get a good education at half the cost of Syracuse. Frankly, I found the tuition repugnant and could not understand why anyone would pay close to $80K a year.

Only go to a state school if you're getting in-state tuition. That drastically narrows down your options. No idea why you would pay full freight to somewhere like Georgia if you could get a better education from a private university for a similar or lower cost.

I know a journalism student at UMCP who has secured excellent internships and already has a paid gig as a senior.

Like all of those local cbs/fox/nbc/abc affiliates?

Same with Boulder and the entire mountain west?


UF has a great reputation and very high rankings in journalism. Look it up.
