Well, to all the naysayers out there, I bought a new car yesterday and put 15K on my Amex. With the 10X multiplier for Shop Small, it was good for 150,000 points. Which, even with a crappy redemption rate, is worth $1500. Rare these days to end up paying 1500 less than MSRP.

Yes, we had an issue as I custom ordered a car and the dealer was really upset I wasn't financing it. I always said cash so not sure why they thought I was financing. I almost walked as they were so nasty.


Me too. Always pay cash. Have experienced this too. Could not care less.





I financed and paid off immediately on my last car purchase so I could get the 5K off...also the interest rate was something like 1.7. Crazy low.
