Yeah, why would we want police in proximity where violent crimes are perpetrated on teenage students? Reducing police presence has demonstrably worked so well in the past 18 months, let's extend and share that success directly with our children. We can call it "Less Police for All."
There are police all over the place there, and they didn't prevent this, and they didn't catch the guys.

I agree strongly with having police less involved with mental health and other situations where social workers would be more appropriate. I also think that cops in elementary and probably middle schools are a bad idea.
However, as someone who attended a high school much more violent and worse run than Wilson, I was delighted when they assigned a cop full time to my school many years ago. Having an adult in the school with the actual training to intervene in the crime that was going on (and arrest people when needed) was great. And, when a small number of kids were arrested and didn't come back, the school changed for the better.
But they don't do this in DC, which is why it doesn't work, and why the kids just laugh at the officers.

They should be deployed everywhere that there’s a high likelihood that their presence will reduce the incidence of violent crime.
There are ALWAYS cops in Tenleytown.
Trust me, DCPS and MPD, Metro bus/train Police, contract security guards, and even AU campus police spend a lot of time and resources on this.
Wilson is one of the least violent schools in one of the least violent parts of the city. But if you have better ideas, please contact the Wilson principal.

Serious assault reported recently at Montgomery County high schools, including BCC and Blair...look at the postings in that forum. Doesn't excuse any of it but it is not DCPS or Wilson specific.
The increase in violence and other behavior and emotional issues is specific to schools that were closed. Everyone advocating to keep schools closed really screwed our kids.
