Exactly how many weeks of annual leave do they think parents get? Also, my boss had enough after last week because everyone needed off all of a sudden when they announced late last time.

Good luck with that. You'll lose.

And, of course, your "annual !eave" is not the school district's responsibility.

Is the troll who started this thread ready to admit it was all BS. No asynchronous days called, which is exactly what real school staff were saying all along.

Keep this in mind parents when people who claim to be teachers say incendiary stuff to get you riled up. It’s a lie and it works.

LCPS will soon follow lead. I am sharing the news that will be disseminated by end of this week or start of next week so parents can begin to procure childcare.

You can thank me l8r.

OP, where is the cancellation notice? I think it’s possible that…you were FOS.

Tru. But we get to chill and stay mentally sane.

I know a few LCPS teachers. None of them are chill or sane.

Ok, but do make plans for that week. Monday and Tuesday will be asynchronic

Cut the BS.

But they aren’t. They haven’t said that or even implied it.

Duh. That’s why I told Pp who insists it’s happening to cut the BS.

Let’s see what Youngkin does about staffing issues.

What happens if kids are in school but there aren’t enough teachers? Do they just put all of the kids in the gym for babysitting?

Anyone who thinks Youngkin cares even remotely about public schools has another thing coming. One of the first things out of his mouth after the election was that he was going to funnel lots of money into charter schools. He successfully tricked suburban white women into thinking he cares about their kids’ education.

The auditorium, but yes.

My HS kids have had this happen several times so far this year.

HS kids are rude to subs. My kids are in ES and MS and haven’t had any sub issues this year - including the two recent “asynchronous days” - our schools could have operated in person without issue.

Anonymous wrote:What I have been told by friends working for LCPS is that part of the issue with subs in Loudoun is that it takes so long for an application to be processed. The office that deals with this was cut back years ago, and they don't have enough people to move the paperwork through the system at a good rate. There are subs in the pipeline who would fill some of these spots, but they haven't yet been cleared to work.

I have heard the opposite since Covid. I applied back in 2018 and it took 3 months for my application to even be approved (before the interview and training.) My neighbor did it this summer and was completely ready to go in a month. Our elementary school has a deep bench of subs, but most of them are parents/former SAHM’s from the neighborhood. We are very fortunate.

Districts in North Carolina are making some professional development optional for teachers in order to reduce the current workload. Cutting any non-teaching work that isn't legally required by the state seems like a better option than more asynchronous days.
