The same schools are being discussed. I guess it just makes me wonder if there is really any difference between a 3.5W and a 3.7W given that, at least here in DCUMland, both schools present the same types of options in terms of possible college choices. Yet, there actually is a difference between a 3.5 and a 3.7 just like there is between a 2.9 and a 3.1 and a 3.7 and a 3.9. Sometimes I think DCUM is a bit deluded on college choices. NAVIANCE for my kids' schools show WAY more options than DCUM suggests are possible.
NP. I think it's hard to boil down chances to just GPA. High school plays a little bit of a role, level of rigor, which classes have which grades, e.g. Cs in PE and As in calc, good, the reverse bad. Different high schools have different weighting schemes - a 3.7W where only APs are weighted could have been a 4.0 with several weighted honors courses, for example. This is one area where test optional has made things more difficult, trying to identify colleges on GPA alone.
OP, I'd be looking at top 40-90+. It's fine to have reaches higher than that, but I think best bet would be 50s-80s, just off the top of my head

I'd say all are possible, but wouldn't be a safety. Your kid will definitely get into some of the schools on that list.

Wow, great options. Where did he/she go? Is he happy now with choice?
He attended a university that was an even bigger reach and I didn't include because people would surely think you can't get accepted there with his gpa. Really, it is his artistic talent. And no, he doesn't seem to realize how incredibly lucky he was.
I posted mainly to let parents know that these schools - all strong schools - are possible with this gpa.
