No, you're using the wrong denominator. In highly vaccinated areas, many of the people who are getting covid are vaccinated - but that's just because there aren't many unvaccinated people. We know that unvaccinated people are far more likely to become infected and far more likely, if infected, to get seriously ill or die from covid.
Also, get out of here with the "the pandemic hasn't been hard" nonsense.

And, none of our elementary age, and some middle school children aren't vaccinated. Kids in VA just passed away. Isn't that enough to say masking needs to stay.
This makes no sense. PP was talking about the risks from a vaccinated teacher infecting their students, except that the teacher was unvaccinated, and so you follow up with ... the risks to unvaccinated students?

I really think some people are completely ignoring the actual numerical risk associated with COVID. I also have a hard time understanding some of the fear associated with COVID, especially after being vaccinated.
Look at the county Covid positives. Many are vaccinated. You can still get and spread Covid.
I swear some of you get off on repeating this statement over and over. Everyone knows it’s still possible to contract and spread covid after being fully vaccinated. But you are far less likely to do so. The risk of vaccinated people getting and spreading covid is LOW.

I’m sorry the pandemic has been hard for you. Luckily, things are improving, and vaccinated people should be able to take a safe break from covid restrictions soon, if they choose to do so. Expecting people, some of whom have now had three vaccine doses, to continue living as though they are unvaccinated is unreasonable and not in line with current science regarding covid and vaccines.

NP that's not just a Canadian thing. I've heard it happen occasionally in the U.S. too, usually by a Native American but sometimes but non-Indigenous people.
