I have a beautiful Siberian Husky that draws a lot of attention. She's also a tough B and is very intuitive. Doesn't like men except for DH and my nephew.. I would probably hand her over and she might go for their neck of the person if she felt I was in distress.
My other dog is a big goofy lab who walks terribly on the leash now that he's old. He would probably just lay on the ground like an anchor and not go with the person. They would give up and leave him there.

Chips don't have GPS. They are for situations when someone finds a pet without a collar and wants to locate the owner. I doubt someone who steals a dog at gunpoint would then take the dog to the vet to find out who the owner is.

My demanding dog was going to mug me at gunpoint, but they wouldn't give her a permit, so she just held me up at barkpoint instead.

I have a pug and think about this a lot. I seldom walk very far with her and stick close to home. I’m pretty sure I’d fight to the death for her. Sometimes just putting up a fight is enough deterrent.

Absolutely. The rates of gun violence, or violence in general, in the suburbs is considerably less. EG - DC rate of homicide is over 10x that of Fairfax County. That's a MASSIVE difference.

And there are vast differences inside the city, which is normal. The ultra-wealthy quarters are much safer than the iffy quarters. The problem is that areas that were recently thought as "Safer than before, I might want to buy there" are actually not.
